Welcome to the Lebanese Campaign for a Senate.
We are a civil society initiative aimed at building grass-roots support for the establishment of a bicameral legislature in Lebanon. Launched in 2009, the campaign seeks to raise awareness about the ways in which the creation of a senate would work to dismantle political sectarianism in Lebanon.
Material is being added to this site on a regular basis. The goal of our project is to assemble a wide variety of resources on the subject of bicameralism, ranging from relevant policy news, opinions and analysis, comparative political studies, and links to further information.
At the present time, the available resources include introductory articles on the subject of bicameralism in both international and Lebanese contexts. The “On the Record” series contains a growing list of statements made by different Lebanese politicians in support of establishing a senate. In the near future, we will be adding adding material in Arabic and French, a comprehensive FAQ, and a series of exclusive interviews with lawmakers, journalists, academics, and civil society activists.
We invite you to explore the site, sign the guestbook, leave comments, and spread the word. If you are a blogger, feel free to place an LCS logo graphic in your sidebar.
